It was in this that the island’s first court was established. As the official flags were flown on this building, the place was called the “village of the flags”. It is composed of the following communities: Cachorro, Cais do Mourato and Cabeço do Chão.

The parish church, dedicated to Our Lady of Good News, was built in 1871. It is a large temple, divided into three naves.

Besides the above, one may also visit the Chapel of Our Lady of Miracles in Cachorro, the Chapel of Our Lady of Exile in Cais do Mourato, the Chapel of São Caetano, the Empire of the Holy Spirit and Pius XII Parish Hall.
