Praínha parish
This is the second community which was built on the Island’s north coast.
Prainha includes a number of tourist spots, such as Poça Branca (natural pool) and Canas Bay, formerly linked to the production of "verdelho" wine, but is today simply a beautiful summer destination and a tree park, which includes a game, amusement and leisure area.
The parish church, devoted to Our Lady of Help, was built in the 18th century.
The Friar Convent, a small, 17th/18th century convent, is composed of a chapel and an area for habitation where the friars used to stay during the harvest period.
Besides these two temples, there is also the chapel of St. Peter (18 th century), in the upper part of Prainha.
